Internship at WASTE
INTERNSHIP AT WASTE
WASTE foundation is a not for profit consultancy group that focuses on sustainable urban environment development processes. Our efforts target the improvement of livelihood and income generation of the urban poor.
WASTE’s field of expertise is integrated urban waste and sanitation management driven by stakeholders, based on a synergy between social, economic, technical and other aspects or as we call it: ISWM ~ Integrated Sustainable Waste Management.
Though a relatively small group (15), WASTE is allied with large institutions and companies, and an active member of several Dutch and international networks. Our input on discussions about sustainable development is valued and quite often provocative.
WASTE is a matchmaker for unexpected partnerships, facilitates innovative development options, seeks creative solutions where others resort to conventional practices, initiates critical discussion about rusted paradigm and supports partners who implement and demonstrate all these through practical application.
The mission of WASTE, poverty alleviation, is clearly related to the global commitment expressed in the Millennium Development Goals.
WASTE is often to be a pioneer within its field of expertise, it acknowledges the necessity of multi disciplinary approach and that disadvantages sometimes can be turned into advantages.
In short, at WASTE you may encounter debate and ideas outside of the regular toolbox. If you want to be surprised and want to know more about urban material flows, cities that are cleaned by the poor, making your living from waste, turning urine into carrots and how people elsewhere think about solving their problems, you find WASTE an interesting place to for an internship.
WASTE feels the responsibility to share knowledge and experience with students and young professionals from in the Netherlands and abroad. Therefore, we may give you the opportunity to work with us to achieve your educational goals and professional targets.
Each year WASTE can accommodate and supervise about six to seven interns working on ongoing projects and special assignments. Internships are expected to have a two way effect: students learn from our ideas, experiences and expertise and we learn from the students about recent academic developments. This way both WASTE and the interns can be involved in innovative research and methodologies.
WASTE offers internships for students at university and college level (HBO) within its thematic advisory work. It also offers more practical training for students at MBO or related level to obtain practical experience and to help us with assignments.
We believe WASTE is special, so we like to acquire special students who seek experience and knowledge about innovative approaches, methodologies or solutions to expand our horizon and acquire new skills.
