The study compares the environmental impact of a sanitation system using a flush toilet, with systems based on urine separation toilets in which the faeces are either dehydrated, incinerated or collected at a composting site. The comparison of existing systems with a new system in which faeces are quickly dried, gains insight in the feasibility of the dehydration toilet.

A Life Cycle Analysis has been applied to compare the different systems.
